Events
Since its inception, the Sri Lanka Leukaemia Foundation UK has brought together the Sri Lankan diaspora through impactful community-driven initiatives. In May 2026, the foundation will host the Try for Cure Rugby Tournament and the Light of Hope for Apeksha Luncheon as part of a special fundraising campaign to support the Ultrasound Scanner Project at Apeksha Cancer Hospital. The Try for Cure Rugby Tournament, held on the 3rd of May 2026, combines sport with purpose through an innovative model where donations are pledged based on tries scored, turning every moment on the field into meaningful impact. This is followed by the Light of Hope for Apeksha Luncheon on the 24th of May 2026, offering a more intimate setting for community engagement, awareness, and support. Together, these events reflect a shared commitment to improving cancer care in Sri Lanka while strengthening bonds within the UK Sri Lankan community.
Impact: Targeted fundraising for essential medical equipment, stronger community engagement, and direct support for improved cancer diagnosis and patient care.
